Adventures off the beaten path ~ Hoi An, Viet Nam, Colorful Shipyard on Duy Hai Island, Thu Bon River

Yes we are impulsive and impetuous when it comes to adventure and discovery.
We love nothing better than to hop onto our bike and set off with no specific destination in mind. Any set of random turns, delivers much in the way of adventure for a day!
The day trip is a forgiving form of slow discovery. The investment and logistics are minimal, the “risk factor” is low and getting “lost” is the goal.

From our bike we notice a few people waiting at a wooden jetty for an incoming boat, which appears to be a local “ferry”.

So of course we join them. The motor bike goes onto the boat…. where are we off to?
On the other side, ready for adventure !
The island of Duy Hai (we find out the name later), happens to be home to a ship yard of  old colorful boats, in various stages of repair.
View from the deck of a boat. Love all the flags battered by many hours at sea and the wind.
Two rows deep.
Bright red cabin, with sea green bamboo boat on it’s side.
Peta cannot resist a paintbrush with bright cerrulean blue on it.
Varnish is being applied to this small boat, with a piece of coconut shell being used as a paintbrush.
